Grasp

I’m climbing a mountain,

Pushing myself rock by rock,

Reaching high with every step,

Walking like I never used to walk,

Every turn brings a challenge,

Not knowing what’s ahead,

How far is the summit,

Is all inside my head,

I don’t look back,

But give a good look around,

Watching every stone that falls,

Compromising my ground,

I’m skilled in this journey,

But I need to be ready,

If somewhere I go off balance,

I’ve to keep myself steady,

The final climb begins,

I breathe with a nervous gasp,

Need something to hold on to,

Even if I lose my grasp!
