I LOST MY JEWEL

This post is dedicated to my friend Danish Shah.

I DREAM WITH OPEN EYES,
SLEEP WITH WAVY WATERS,
IN THE SHALLOW LIGHT OF YOUR LOVE,
I FIND A SHADOW TO HIDE IN,
THE CONTOURS OF YOUR MEMORIES,
RESIDING DEEP INSIDE,
THE CORE OF YOUR HEART.

I DRANK THE WINE OF MY EGO,
AND SMELLED THE FRAGRANCE OF YOUR SMILE,
IN THE DEEPER LEVELS OF YOUR LOVE,
I FOUND MY OWN REFLECTION,
STARING AT ME FROM A SIDE,
THAT WASN’T MEANT TO BE MINE,
AND TELLING ME WITH A WITHERING SMILE,
THAT I’M LEFT BEHIND.

I’VE LOST FAITH IN SHAPES,
THAT MAKE OUR HOME SHINE,
NO MORE WORDS OF PRAISE,
IN TRIBUTE TO THE DIVINE.

I LOST MY JEWEL,
IN THE PILE OF SCRAP,
MADE OF BELIEFS AND CUSTOMS,
THAT HARDLY MATCHED,
THE ESSENCE OF OUR LOVE,
LOST IN TIME,
EVERY WORD OF YOUR EMOTION,
LOST IN RHYME.

NO DELICACY FEEDS ME,
NO GLITTER LURES ME,
IN THE LOSS OF YOUR LOVE,
NO SMILE FASCINATES ME.

I LOST MY JEWEL,
PRICELESS IN MAKE,
I LOST MY JEWEL,
FOR RELIGION SAKE,
I LOST MY JEWEL,
IN THE BRIGHT DAYLIGHT,
I LOST MY JEWEL,
AND I LOSE IN THIS FIGHT.
